Jardin de la Sole, like its name implies, is both a flowering hideaway in the sun-drenched Southwestern French countryside and a place that nourishes the soul.

We created this bed and breakfast as a sanctuary where people can slow down and connect—with each other and with nature. It’s our wish that the tranquility of our home can provide guests a space for reflection, relaxation, and respite from the hectic pace of everyday life.

Your Hosts

Our story began in the vineyards of Cahors over a decade ago. Lucien grew up in this area, in the village of Saint Vincent Rive d’Olt, and I am from Los Angeles and lived in France while completing my graduate studies. Though from very different places and backgrounds, we immediately bonded over our shared adventurous spirit and a love of wine and nature.

After more than a decade spent traveling and living in different hemispheres, we knew it was time to put down roots. We brought our young children back to Lucien’s native Lot Valley. Lucien took over the reins of his family vineyard, Domaine Le Bout du Lieu, where he pursues winemaking with the same passion and care for the land instilled in him by his parents.

In 2020, I launched our bed and breakfast & holiday home, Jardin De La Sole. Together, Lucien and I enjoy tending the garden and vineyard and hosting visitors from all around the world. We warmly welcome you to our home and the surrounding region and hope you find it as beautiful, hospitable, and restorative to the soul as we do.

 Our Vineyard

Our vineyard, Domaine Le Bout du Lieu, is a premier Cahors wine estate from the Southwest of France that is dedicated to producing the finest expressions of French Malbec and promoting stewardship for the land. The estate was founded by Arnaldo and Monique Dimani, skilled winemakers who have dedicated their careers to their craft, educating others about the importance of the Cahors wine industry, and advocating for the region’s heritage and continuity. Today, the vineyard is run by their son, Lucien Dimani, who brings his own international experience and perspective while remaining grounded in the family traditions.

Our 18 hectares of land are located along the Lot River, which winds its way from east to west through the Cahors countryside. This area, a limestone and red clay soil-based winemaking region equidistant from the Atlantic Ocean, Pyrénées Mountains and Mediterranean Sea, is one of France's best kept secrets. Malbec, also known as Côt Noir or Auxerrois, originated in this region and was renowned throughout Europe as the wine of Popes, kings, and nobility. Distinct microclimates produce these powerful, yet elegant, “black wines” (vins noirs) with multiple ranges of dark berries and spice, accompanied by smooth tannins.

As a guest in our home, you will have the unique opportunity to see the inner workings of a family-run estate, and to learn about the characteristics of French Malbec directly from the vigneron. We have many years of experience in the wine industry and take great pleasure in introducing both novices and experts alike to the distinct qualities of our terroir and wine. During your time here, we invite you to learn, taste, and explore your way through this special region.
